This is a great example of illustration used to recreate a scene that's tricky to stage with models or capture at a real event. I really like the way it conveys the energy of a live event through very simple means – a handful of flat silhouettes, a radial gradient and a bit of lens flare. Another bonus over a photo is that it’s generic enough not to be ‘typecast’ in terms of the age, gender or social makeup of the crowd, nor the type of event depicted.
Images of people interacting with their mobile devices tend to have a notoriously short shelf life, shifting from ‘cutting edge’ to ‘retro’ just as soon as the next generation devices hit the stores. Illustrations tend to fare a little better, although the beard and hipster quiff may date this particular image. Luckily, with a vector file those details (and others) aren’t too hard to tweak.
